What We Do

OTV works with industry leading companies to move cutting edge technology into their pipeline. By leveraging our deep experience, global network, and passion we move impactful technology into the market, creating successful companies, or empowering corporate partners through technology acquisition. The firm also backs entrepreneurs who have unique insight into a specific market need, and pairs them with industry disrupting technology developed at Oceanit.

Dr. Patrick Sullivan
Founding Partner

Patrick founded Oceanit in 1985, a self-funded ‘Mind to Market’ company that produces home-grown research, development and engineering. Oceanit has created cutting-edge innovations in the fields of aerospace, oil & gas, nanotechnology and optics, as well as technology for missile defense, advanced manufacturing, and others that are the subject of numerous reports, patents and research programs.

Dr. Vinod Veedu
Venture Partner

Vinod is an active researcher of nanocomposite materials, focused primarily on developing multifunctional nanostructures and hybrid platforms for diverse industry applications. Dr. Veedu has more than 25 approved/pending US patents and his works have received wide acclaim in the nanotechnology community; including entering The Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world’s smallest nanobrush.

Ian Kitajima
Venture Partner

Ian has helped to raise millions in defense and government research funding; recruited the human talent to move Oceanit into new areas, such as nanotechnology, design thinking, and artificial intelligence. He has spun-off the three venture-funded companies from Oceanit and has a background in starting companies focused in wireless software systems and global consumer marketing.

Matthew Sullivan
Venture Partner

Matthew is an entrepreneur and designer who founded a successful technology startup out of Stanford University in 2011. Previously he was a designer at the design consultancy IDEO, worked in venture capital, and currently advises startups as a mentor at 500 Startups while teaching classes in design and entrepreneurship at Stanford.

Pioneering a new model of innovation

Moving disruptive technology into the market is very difficult for any organization. Oceanit’s unique “FAST” process enables our teams to shepherd technology from the research lab to field trials to scalable manufacturing and production. Throughout this journey we practice human-centered design thinking, a creative approach to problem solving, that begins with understanding customer “pain points” and arrives at solutions tailored to meet organizational and technical needs.
